C1 Listening Studio
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 September 2026
C1 Listening Studio is an online listening-practice platform designed to help learners practise Cambridge-style English listening exercises, review their results and track their progress over time.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information C1 Listening Studio collects, how that information is used and stored, and what choices users have regarding their data.
1. Information we collect
Google account information
C1 Listening Studio uses Google Sign-In for account authentication.
When a user signs in with Google, the application may receive basic account information provided by Google, including:
- name,
- email address,
- Google account identifier,
- basic profile information made available through Google Sign-In.
C1 Listening Studio currently requests only basic identity scopes required for authentication, such as:
openidemailprofile
The application does not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, contacts, files, or other private Google services.
Learning and account data
When a user uses C1 Listening Studio, the platform may store information such as:
- account profile details,
- listening-test attempts,
- answers and saved responses,
- first-attempt and later-attempt results,
- progress through listening exercises,
- performance by listening part,
- completed and incomplete exercises,
- class membership if the user is assigned to a class,
- account status, such as active or suspended.
The purpose of this data is to allow users to continue exercises across devices, review their performance and track their learning progress.
2. How we use Google user data
Google account information is used only for functions necessary to operate C1 Listening Studio.
This includes:
- authenticating the user,
- creating and maintaining the user account,
- identifying the correct student record,
- associating saved listening progress and results with the correct account,
- supporting account administration and security.
Google user data is not used for advertising.
Google user data is not sold.
Google user data is not used to build advertising profiles.
Google user data is not used for unrelated purposes.
C1 Listening Studio limits its use of Google user data to the features described in this Privacy Policy and to the operation and improvement of the user-facing service.
3. How information is stored
C1 Listening Studio uses Supabase as its backend platform for authentication-related application data, database storage and access control.
Personal and learning data may therefore be stored in the Supabase project used by C1 Listening Studio.
The application uses access-control rules so that:
- students can access only their own protected learning data,
- one student cannot access another student's private results,
- administrator-only functions are restricted,
- unpublished answer keys and protected test content are not directly available to ordinary users.
4. Local device storage
To improve loading speed, restore recent exercise state and support brief connection interruptions, C1 Listening Studio may store limited student-safe data in the browser on the user's device using local storage and IndexedDB.
This local data may include dashboard summaries, recent exercise content that is safe for students to access, and temporary draft or progress state. Supabase remains the authoritative source for account and saved learning data, and this feature should not be understood as full offline support.
Private answer keys, explanations and transcript evidence are not stored in the student cache. Cached records are separated by signed-in user, and the application checks the user's current account status before showing cached student data.
The application clears the current user's local student cache on sign-out and after that user completes account deletion. It also removes records belonging to a previous user when a different verified user signs in on the same browser.
5. Sharing of information
C1 Listening Studio does not sell personal information.
Personal data may be processed by service providers that are necessary to operate the application, including:
- Google, for authentication,
- Supabase, for backend infrastructure, database services and authentication support,
- the hosting and DNS providers used to deliver the website.
These providers process data as part of delivering the technical service.
C1 Listening Studio does not intentionally disclose student learning records to unrelated third parties.
6. Account deletion
Users can delete their C1 Listening Studio account from the account settings area.
Deletion requires explicit confirmation using the account's verified email address, and the application displays a warning explaining that deletion is permanent and irreversible.
When account deletion is confirmed, the application is designed to permanently remove the user's personal account data, including:
- profile information,
- saved listening progress,
- attempts,
- saved responses,
- personal learning history associated with that account.
If the same person registers again later, a fresh account is created. Deleted progress and learning history are not restored to that new account.
7. Suspended accounts
An administrator may suspend a user account where necessary for security, misuse prevention or account administration.
A suspended account loses access to protected application features.
The account's stored data is preserved while the account is suspended. Suspension is an access restriction and is not the same as account deletion.
8. Data retention
Personal learning data is retained while the user's account remains active unless it is deleted earlier.
If a user permanently deletes their account, the application removes the personal learning records associated with that account as described above.
Additional retention periods may apply where technically necessary for security, backup integrity, fraud prevention or legal obligations.
This section will be updated if the application's retention practices materially change.
9. Security
C1 Listening Studio uses technical safeguards intended to protect personal information.
These include:
- authenticated access,
- server-side authorization,
- database Row Level Security,
- role-based administrator restrictions,
- protected backend functions,
- HTTPS encryption,
- separation of private answer data from normal student access.
No online service can guarantee absolute security, but reasonable technical measures are used to reduce unauthorized access and misuse.
10. Children's privacy
C1 Listening Studio's final age policy is still being established.
Until that policy is finalized, the service should not be represented as specifically directed at children.
This Privacy Policy will be updated before the platform is actively opened to younger users if additional parental-consent or child-privacy procedures are required.
11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when C1 Listening Studio changes how it collects, uses, stores or shares personal information.
The current version will remain available at:

The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be changed when material updates are made.
